Yadira Albornoz, PhD is a Music Therapist specializing in Psychotherapy and an Occupational Therapist specializing in physical and mental health. She holds a PhD and a Master’s in Music Therapy, as well as a Bachelor of Music from Temple University (Philadelphia, USA). Additionally, she earned her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University College of Rehabilitation (Pérez Carreño Hospital, Caracas).
A versatile artist, she is a clarinetist, vocalist, and composer. With over 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. Albornoz has worked across medical, psychotherapeutic, and social sectors in the USA, Venezuela, and China. Between 2010 and 2017, she founded and chaired the first Graduate Program in Music Therapy in Venezuela at the University of Los Andes. Her academic career includes faculty positions at Marietta College (USA) and Minzu University of China.
Her multidisciplinary background includes studies in African Dance at the Freedom Theater of Philadelphia and Cuban Music and Dance at the Higher Institute of Music in Havana. As a published author and researcher, her musical works have premiered internationally. She is also a certified Yoga Instructor (Yoga Inbound Alliance, India).
